soufflé pancakes are the japanese twist on the pancake. What started off as a tiny stall as a student at the University of Surrey has eventually become what you know zenchai as today. Every one of our pancakes is whipped, flipped and baked to perfection in house, which is why they need 20 mins to cook - but trust me, they are so worth the wait!

the past few months have been…. a lot. experimental, messy even. I really am my own worst critic about results and growth and whether I’m doing enough 😐

We’ve been stagnant on our socials for months and as a self-confessed marketeer, that stagnation has shadowed whether I actually know what I’m doing ❓

I stayed consistent had my eyes on the bigger picture: this month alone we’ve gained 2,500 followers across our social media platforms. It’s not just about the numbers, it’s a reminder that sometimes you have to sit in the uncertainty before things click. That consistency even when it feels pointless does in fact compound 🍃

She hasn’t died but it is with a heavy heart to announce that my first born Seren Jones is leaving us this week to study Fashion at the University of Leeds 😭

Seren has been with me from the very beginning and has been with Zenchai for more than 2 years, she’s the first ever member of staff that I’ve hired so this one is a little more emotional for me! She truly has been such a key part of the business, helping us navigate through a lot of change and I can honestly say we wouldn’t be where we are today without her support and guidance😁

She started off as a barista and worked her way up to Team Leader which is such a testament to her people skills & communication. But like all good things, it’s time for her to move on and pursue her dreams within the fashion space! I’m so excited to see what’s next for her! 📚

Unfortunately we are unable to serve coffee for the near future due to our coffee machine completely dying on us 🫨

We are however investing £2,000+ 😭 into a commercial setup which should be a lot more reliable & speed up coffee turnarounds. This may take a few weeks to get operational.. as you’ll be surprised to know we don’t have that money lying around (if there’s ever a time to buy our pancakes its now 😂)

It’s a sad day at zenchai 🍃

Today we are saying goodbye to one of our own, Fin who is going away to study Business Management & Finance at the University of Exeter, the team here at zenchai couldn’t be more proud of him and the grades that he’s achieved! ⭐️

Fin has been with us for more than a year and it’s been incredible to see not only he’s professional development running the shop, but he’s personal development too. I always say that as a manager, I always look at how I can develop someone’s skills not only just for the role, but for life and I hope that I’ve done by bit! it’s bitter sweet to say goodbye as I won’t see him every Sunday, but I know he is going to do AMAZING things! 😂
